PRESENTAZIONE

Il sito Geologia del Biellese è un progetto personale, nato come raccolta di appunti e avviato il 15 febbraio 2024. L’obiettivo è documentare osservazioni di terreno attraverso immagini e testi, facendo riferimento alla cartografia geologica e alla letteratura esistente.

La struttura del sito è volutamente minimalista. Le informazioni non seguono una scala uniforme e non hanno le caratteristiche di un manuale o di un testo didattico: si tratta piuttosto di una raccolta di appunti nati da spunti, osservazioni e riflessioni personali. La trattazione è selettiva e l’approccio è quello di un appassionato, non geologo, che si dedica a questo lavoro per il piacere della conoscenza, per il bisogno di focalizzare la mente e per i benefici legati all’avere uno scopo.

Questa raccolta è in continua evoluzione, senza scadenze né programmi prestabiliti. Non è una monografia strutturata secondo un metodo scientifico formale, ma un lavoro compilativo di carattere amatoriale, arricchito da immagini. Nelle mie intenzioni questo sito vuole essere una raccolta divulgativa e documentaria, consapevole della propria non rilevanza scientifica, poiché priva dei requisiti necessari: non vi è acquisizione sistematica di dati originali e i contenuti non sono sottoposti a revisione paritaria. Pur facendo riferimento alla letteratura scientifica, le informazioni proposte non costituiscono uno strumento didattico formale o professionale, né un contributo alla ricerca accademica, ma un supporto alla comprensione geologica del territorio, senza ambizioni di completezza o esaustività.

Scrivo principalmente per me stesso: per imparare, fissare meglio i concetti e poterli ritrovare in futuro. La pubblicazione di questi contenuti rappresenta un’alternativa al “tenere tutto nel cassetto” ed è rivolta a lettori interessati alla geologia del territorio biellese. Se quanto raccolto potrà risultare utile o stimolante anche per altri, questo sarà un valore aggiunto.

Le mie condizioni fisiche, legate all’età e a problematiche di salute, limitano le possibilità di ricerca e di documentazione sul terreno. Il piacere della conoscenza è effimero: più si studia, più ci si rende conto di non sapere. Eppure proprio questo paradosso può costituire uno stimolo a continuare ad apprendere. Con umiltà intellettuale chiedo quindi scusa per gli errori, le omissioni e le imprecisioni inevitabilmente presenti in queste pagine.

PRESENTATION

Geologia del Biellese is a personal project, conceived as a collection of notes and initiated on February 15, 2024. Its aim is to document field observations through images and texts, drawing on geological maps and existing scientific literature.

The structure of the website is deliberately minimalist. The information does not follow a uniform scale and does not have the characteristics of a manual or a textbook; rather, it is a collection of notes arising from personal insights, observations, and reflections. The treatment is selective, and the approach is that of an enthusiast, not a professional geologist, who devotes himself to this work for the pleasure of knowledge, the need to focus the mind, and the benefits associated with having a purpose.

This collection is continuously evolving, with no deadlines or predefined plans. It is not a monograph structured according to a formal scientific method, but an amateur, compilative work enriched with images. In my intentions, this site is meant to be a divulgative and documentary collection, fully aware of its lack of scientific relevance, as it does not meet the necessary requirements: there is no systematic acquisition of original data, and the contents are not subject to peer review. Although reference is made to scientific literature, the information provided does not constitute a formal or professional educational tool, nor a contribution to academic research, but rather a support for the geological understanding of the territory, without any ambition of completeness or exhaustiveness.

I write primarily for myself: to learn, to better fix concepts in memory, and to be able to retrieve them in the future. Publishing these contents represents an alternative to “keeping everything in a drawer” and is intended for readers interested in the geology of the Biellese area. If what has been collected proves useful or stimulating to others as well, this will be an added value.

My physical condition, related to age and health issues, limits the possibilities for field research and documentation. The pleasure of knowledge is ephemeral: the more one studies, the more one realizes how much one does not know. Yet it is precisely this paradox that can serve as a stimulus to continue learning. With intellectual humility, I therefore apologize for the errors, omissions, and inaccuracies inevitably present in these pages.
